Terms of service
Last updated
Plain terms for a small site. The important parts are that the codes here come from other people and carry no guarantee, that this site is not part of any manufacturer's referral programme, and that if you share a code it is your relationship with the manufacturer that is on the line.
What this service is
plugref collects referral codes that vehicle owners choose to share, and hands one of them, chosen at random, to each visitor who asks. That is the whole service. It is free, it needs no account, and it grants one code per visitor per day.
By using the site you agree to what follows. If you do not, do not use it.
Codes come from other people, and carry no guarantee
Every code on this site was submitted by somebody else. We do not verify that a code is valid, in force, or that using it will result in any benefit to you or to anybody. We cannot verify it: the manufacturer's site refuses automated checks, which is why the site relies on reports from people who tried a code instead.
The service is provided as it is. We make no warranty of any kind about it, whether stated or implied, including that it will be available, accurate or uninterrupted.
We are not part of any referral programme
This site is not a party to Tesla's referral programme or to any other manufacturer's. We do not decide whether a referral is credited, what benefit it carries, or whether the programme continues to exist. Those are decisions for the manufacturer, and their terms govern them, not ours.
What any given referral is worth depends on the market the buyer is ordering in and changes without notice, which is why no figure appears anywhere on this site.
A referral does not last
Opening a referral link sets a marker in your browser that lasts about a day. That is the manufacturer's arrangement, not ours, and we cannot extend it. If you take a code and order a week later without opening the link again, no referral applies, and neither the site nor the person who shared the code can do anything about it afterwards.
Open the link shortly before you order, and check that the order flow acknowledges it.
Acceptable use
Do not:
- Collect codes automatically. No scraping, no scripted requests, no rotating addresses to draw more than one code a day, no attempt to enumerate the database. The whole value of the site is the collection of codes, and taking it in bulk is the one thing it is built to prevent.
- Try to get around the bot check or the daily limit.
- Submit codes you are not entitled to share, or resubmit a code that has been removed.
- Interfere with the service or with anybody else's use of it.
What we may do
We may remove, pause or block any code, and suspend or block any account, without notice, if we believe it is fabricated, not the submitter's to share, or being used to abuse the service. We may also stop handing out codes for an entire brand at any time and for any reason, including a request from that brand.
We may change or discontinue the service. It is free, and there is nothing to refund.
What we will not do
Some rights are worth not reserving, because exercising them would breach the programmes this site depends on:
- We will not sell placement, or accept payment to have a code served more often than the draw would serve it.
- We will not offer you anything in exchange for using a code.
- We will not buy advertising that promotes this site as a channel for referral links.
Non-affiliation
Not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Tesla, Inc.
Manufacturer names and model names are used only to say which programme a code belongs to. All trademarks belong to their owners. Nothing on this site implies endorsement or a relationship of any kind.
Takedown and abuse
If you hold rights in a brand named here and want its codes taken down, or you want to report abuse of the service, write to abuse@plugref.com. Say which brand or which code, and what the problem is. A message from the rights holder is enough; no particular form is required.
What happens on a valid request, in the order it happens. First, we stop serving: taking a brand offline is a single configuration change that takes effect immediately for every request after it, and we aim to make that change within one working day of receiving a valid request. That is the part that matters, because it is what stops codes reaching anybody.
Deleting the stored codes is a separate and slower operation that runs in batches, and it follows. We describe the two separately on purpose: promising a fast bulk deletion would be promising something the system cannot do, whereas stopping the serving is immediate and is the effect being asked for.
If you are the owner of a single code and want it removed, you do not need this route — remove it from your dashboard or from the link in any reminder email, in one click.
Liability
The service is free and run by one person. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for any loss arising from your use of it, from a code that does not work, from a referral that is not credited, or from the service being unavailable. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.
If you are a consumer, you keep every right your local law gives you and nothing in this document takes any of them away.
Changes
These terms will change as the site is built out. The date at the top is the date of the last change. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the current version.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of Slovenia, and the courts of Slovenia have jurisdiction over any dispute arising from them.
If you are a consumer resident elsewhere in the European Union, that choice does not deprive you of the protection of the mandatory consumer-protection law of the country where you live, nor of the right to bring proceedings there. Nothing here is intended to reduce a right you hold by law.
